I am not the first person to call the Koch Network what it is: a cabal. Do a quick google search, and you will go down the same exact rabbit hole that I have.
Defending his Secret Network in 2016
In the last linked article, the author Christopher Leonard, summed up his thoughts by writing:
“The current American political debate is focused on the shiny objects, the high-profile contests between Team Red and Team Blue. But companies like Koch Industries have the capacity to focus on the much deeper system, the highly complicated plumbing that makes the American economy work. This is where Charles Koch’s attention has been patiently trained for decades, as administrations have come and gone in Washington.
Thanks to this focus, Koch wins every time.”
Two of Koch’s favorite Kansan politicians who leapt into the national spotlight, former US Secretary of State Mike Pompeo and current US Senator “Doc” Roger Marshall, have benefited from the Koch Network’s money.
(Side note: I met Doc Marshall last year in his DC office, and that five minute interaction deserves its own article.)
While the Koch Cabal is no longer endorsing Nikki Haley’s presidential run, the network is certainly not out of the political spotlight: especially not in their home state of Kansas.
So how do they influence Kansas politics? Below is the 2024 KSLEG Lineup.
While other elected officials are part of their roster, it is important to single out these eleven individuals. In fact, it is my goal to dedicate at least one article to each of these Koch Serpents.
While the Koch Cabal may have unlimited money and influence, we-the everyday voters-have something they will never have: education and turnout. And they know it. Case in Point: Vote No defeats Value Them Both
If the voters see their elected officials for who they are and who they *truly* represent, I am confident their reign in KSLEG will be over. We are tired of fighting for abortion rights, LGBTQIA rights, Medicaid expansion, responsible budgets and property tax relief, fully funded public schools, decriminalizing marijuana, and so many more issues that many voters-of any political party-can find common ground on.
Kansas voters pride ourselves on being The Free State, and it’s time we take our state back from these Koch-backed extremists. We aren’t going to continue to be bullied into submission.
I realize that I am a forever idealist, but I am confident that we all-and I mean all-can recognize that the root problem of the current KSLEG session is the Koch Cabal.
Then, we address these elected officials where it matters most to them: the voting booth. There’s truly no working *with* the Koch Cabal. They are adamant on pushing their agendas at all costs. So we need to defeat them this November.
Every single KSLEG representative and senator is up for election this year.
Every single one.
The next article will focus on Senate President, Ty Masterson, the 2024 ALEC National Chair. Yes, that ALEC, funded by none other than the Koch Network themselves.
