Greetings new and returning readers!
Welcome to Topeka Fridays!
Every Friday during the 2025 #ksleg session, I will sharing the news that most interested me.
Let’s get started, shall we?
Welcome: As an educator with over two decades of experience in both the K-12 school systems and institutions of higher education, I am well versed in students turning in piles of literal BS, and I believe it’s my civic duty to share what’s going on in Topeka. So many of us (read-me just a few years ago) don’t realize what the state representatives, state senators, and other elected officials are up to with OUR tax payer money.
Some weeks will have more content than others; it really comes down to if I feel like sharing the chaos and toxicity or not.
If you see something that you believe is worth sharing in this weekly roundup, please email me at ginnykrumme@gmail.com. Please note that I only will share materials that are proven facts-never rumors.
Women: Farmer Brett Fairchild and his friends are back at it. Only two days into the session, he and his anti-choice buddies have introduced a bill yet again trying to control my and my young girls’ bodies. Here are the introduced House bills: HB 2010 and HB 2009.
As proven on August 2, 2022, the voices of Kansans made it very clear that we want the state lawmakers out of our exam rooms. People tell me that “abortion isn’t an issue anymore”. Question, has anyone asked Farmer Brett and his buddies if they agree that it’s no longer an issue?
Check out Choice Tracker to stay informed on reproductive rights in Kansas and how your elected officials are participating in controlling our bodies. Once again.
Wild: Buckle up for a wild ride these next few months in Topeka. I strongly suggest checking these two resources out:
KSLEG Live and Recorded Broadcasts
The first link takes you to the official YouTube channel. It’s seriously the closest to CSPAN that we have for Topeka politics. What I genuinely appreciate the most about these live recordings is that I can see what the lawmakers are up to with m own eyes. It’s simply embarrassing to see elected officials act so unprofessional and disrespectful to guests and fellow co-workers. My hope is that more people that watch these recordings, and then these folks realize they are being watched. Seriously, so many of these “leaders” don’t sit still in their chairs, they talk while others are talking, and so much more. If you really want to know what people are doing with YOUR tax payer money, I highly encourage you watch for yourself on the YouTube channel.
There’s simply no contest: Kansas Reflector provides the most updated and factual articles regarding Topeka politics. Period.
