Wolves.
That’s my only W for this week’s Topeka Friday.
Why wolves?
The answer is quite simple: those representing us in Topeka aren’t always looking out for OUR best interests.
I’ve been following the Kansas legislature-commonly called #ksleg-for the past two years, and I’ve noticed a very big pattern among those in charge:
The leaders have their own agendas, and nothing we say will stop them from advancing it.
I sure hope that I am wrong, but sadly, I have seen the wolves show their true colors time and time again in Topeka.
This past week, while many of us were focused on the national news, they wasted no time introducing bills that would impact so many of us in profoundly devastating ways.
They. don’t. care. about. us.
When I do my “wrap up” Topeka Friday in a few months, I truly hope I am proven wrong. It would be a huge blessing if our elected lawmakers actually listened to us-the people-and not special interest and lobbying groups.
But alas, I believe that just like so many years before this one, the current #ksleg elected officials will show their true colors in the statehouse during the next few months.
Pay attention to them.
Pay attention to their votes.
The bills they introduce.
Their replies back to your emails. Your phone calls. Your visits to the statehouse.
Our statehouse.
Wolves.
Among us.
In Kansas.
